Maintaining good sleep hygiene — meaning reserving the bed only for sleeping — is one factor, according to Raj Dasgupta, an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Southern California. He also suggested reserving “movie time” during the day or week for watching TV early enough that it does not interfere with relaxing before bed.
And what people do while watching Netflix can be just as important as strictly setting aside time for it. “When you’re watching movies at night, people tend to snack,” Dasgupta said. “There are people out there that are eating things that cause reflux at night. If you are going to watch, be careful about what you eat and how much you eat.”
